Finally got the Honda outboard fixed and fueled up FLUKE (477 gal) @ $4.18. Left for Ft Pierce. -
Got anchored before dark, pulled anchor at 0430 and headed out to sea, only to turn around after about 20 miles. -

Took a mooring while we waited for wind and seas to calm down which turned out to be 6 nights! -

Anchor up at 0530, easy crossing of the Gulf Stream, onto the Little Bahama Bank at 1300 (1 pm) and anchor down at 1730 (5:30 pm), about 90 miles today. Cay is pronounced key in The Bahamas. -

Picture is of fish mud on the banks, an area that looks shallow but is not. Today was election day and the people on shore were celebrating the victory by the PLP (Progressive Liberal Party). -

Short trip down to Green Turtle, launched dinghy to go in and clear customs. - Wednesday, May 9, 2012

With the wind still out of the West we anchored near Archers Cay off of Great Abaco. Trip around Whale Cay was uneventful until a fleet of go-fast boats made big wakes passing us in the old cruise ship channel. The dinghy (which was now being towed) was tossed around, but survived. -

Stormy weather so we decided to pick up a mooring in Hope Town. Delightful place and always have to get a key lime pie from Vernon. -

Crossing was a little bumpy to start with and some showers, a little over 60 miles. First time to Royal Island for us. -

Interesting trip along the coast, calm seas and cliffs with deep water right up to shore.
But we spent a miserable night here as the wind shifted to the SW and picked up bringing big waves into the anchorage for several hours. -

Spent 7 nights here waiting for the rain to stop. Explored a couple of blue holes and hiked over to the Atlantic side. Met 'Dilly Dally' (http://www.sailblogs.com/member/svdillydally/) a sailboat from Wisconsin that was on the way back from the Caribbean with 2 kids aboard. -

Seas were uncomfortably bumpy with overcast skies and intermittent rain all day long (9 hrs). At least the anchor set real good. The wind died and we drifted right over the anchor to get the pic! -

Stormy weather due so back to Hope Town to hang on a mooring for a few days. Rented bikes to explore more of the island. Bruce and Carol on 'Eagle' came in after we did. We plan to spend a lot of time with them going forward. -

Up to Manjack where we can dinghy over to Fiddle Cay for Stranded Naked, the great cheeseburger (and Jimmy Buffett) party and it is all free. -
Cheeseburger in Paradise Beach Party with continuous Jimmy Buffett music. Can't be beat. It is also the kickoff party for Regatta Time in Abaco. -

Trolled along the reef from Moraine to Walkers Cay along with 'Eagle'. Got so many blackfin tuna that we had to stop. Will stay here until it is time to head home. Dave and Kathy on 'Lady K' came in just before we left. -

Of course the tide was ripping out when we came in around 1530 (3:30 pm) after hauling anchor at 0245. -
Home again! Shut down at 1730 (5:30 pm) after about 15 hrs and 125 miles. Nice calm crossing. - total distance: 1,176 miles (1.893 km)
