Las Perlas is to tequila what Seven Grand is to Whiskey. It’s a casual, no fuss type of bar where you can grab a drink and play some pool while listen to some tunes from the juke box. Unlike some of the trendier bars, there’s no appetizer menu here; chips and nuts are all they have to help keep that tequila down.

The kitsch factor draws its share of hipsters, but El Carmen also gets its fair share of the sleek and chic who come for the tequila. There are more than 420 varieties to choose from; the sampler platter offers a sip or two of several different types. Or try a Mexjito, a delicious, tequila-based take on the mojito.

Malo is the Silverlake spot for home-cooked Mexican food and over 150 different tequilas. It is a casual neighborhood restaurant that intertwines gourmet cooking with home-style favorites. Popular items on the menu include ground beef and pickled tacos, chicken quesadillas, grilled lobster tail and pork carnitas, plus all the 100 percent blue agave tequilas you could possibly want to choose from.

This used to be La Cantina which for all intensive purposes should have been demolished years ago. Te'kila is the new incarnation and is much better option. They have a healthy selection of 170 tequilas to choose from at all price ranges. For those of you who have an aversion to Hollywood Blvd this might be a stretch but if you find yourself wondering the Blvd of broken dreams a nice snifter of agave might help blunt the pain.

While not necessarily a tequila bar the Mission Cantina is known for making good margaritas. You'll get the gamut of responses when you ask about it but you should really check it out and make up your own mind. I wouldn't make it your one stop for dinner but if you are itching for a cocktail give it a try.

I want to like this place but they always make it so hard. The bartender is really good guy who is fairly knowledgeable and they have a wall of tequila to choose from. The thing that gets me is the music makes me want to tear my ears off. The owners have changed this place up more times than I care to remember yet it has somehow persevered. My suggestion is if the music is blaring order a nice glass and then sit outside on the sidewalk where they have some tables set up.
