Finland Lakeland and Lapland

Kuopio Region is one of the Finland´s most popular holiday destinations. There seems to be lakes everywhere - it is like a mosaic of gleaming blue water and green forest. Nice, lively city and the boat cruise from the harbour is great. Puijo Tower is nice - there you can see all the lakes and the city of Kuopio. Overnight in Rauhalahti camping.

We rented a cottage from Nallikari Holiday Village. It is located beside the sea, ca. 4 km from downtown Oulu. In the evening and in the mornging we went for a swim in the sea.

You can meet Santa Claus and cross the magical Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi - and do some shopping. Arktikum museum is worth of visiting it provides a unique insight into the way of life, culture and history of the North.

The fell village Saariselkä is located 250 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. It is a popular winter holiday village. In summertime its nice to go hiking to Urho Kekkonen national park. We climed on the top of Kiilopää fjell. The apartement was nice and the whole village was very peaceful.

Inari is located on the shore of the beautiful Lake Inarijärvi. The village is quite small but but Siida Sami Museum and Northern Lapland Nature Centre is worth of seeing. Take a cruise on the Lake Inarinjärvi and visit Ukon­saari, an ancient Sami holy place. If you like hiking make a hiking trip to Lake Pielpajärvi Wilderness Church, located 7 km north of Inari.

Nuorgam is situated at the top of Finland and the EU, 510 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. There are only 200 inhabitans in Nuorgam but during summer season many tourists arrive to Nuorgam. Tenojoki river is one of the best salmon rivers in the world and many sports fishermen from all over Europe come to try their luck. Accommodation in Nuorgamin lomakeskus.

Vadsö is located by Varngerfjord. Its a nice little town that has a lot of nature activities.
Vadsø is also known for its rich cultural life and Varanger area has several festivals a year. I heard that you can do crab fishing in Vadsö - the king crab fishing has become very attractive for visitors.
