Brasserie Pakhuis is located in a cosy alley with the towers of Ghent in the background. On entering, you are overwhelmed by the enormous space that still reflects the atmosphere of this former warehouse. Portuguese architect Antoine Pinto gave the building its distinctive warm character. The unique combination of a 600 square meters storage space with the specifically designed interior is what distinguishes Brasserie Pakhuis from any other restaurant.
And even more so, the restaurant's fresh, contemporary tinted French-Italian cuisine. Brasserie Pakhuis also serves royal oyster and seafood dishes, which can be accompanied by a French classic or a glass of excellent wine from the New World.

This tiny apothecary-style shop is a true monument to tradition. Located in the heart of the city, Tierenteyn-Verlent produces and sells its own mustard. The mustard factory is in the basement of the store.
Watch the mustard mistress raise her large wooden spoon high in the air while the spicy yellow waterfall lands in a handmade signature crock. The notable mostard manufacturer has kept its secret recipe unchanged for over two centuries. The mustard has got a moderate bite, and tastes exactly like mustard should taste like: powerful, tangy and sharp without burning.
Don’t wait until the duty-free shop to get your hands on this local gem, the Groentenmarkt shop is the only place where you can claim a jar of this authentic tasty paste for yourself!

To: all the sweet teeth out there!
If you need love, want to feel really special and see for yourself that heaven is a place on earth, carefully step into Julie’s House.
This young ambitious woman followed her gut feeling and made her childhood dream come alive. She opened her own special bakery shop/coffee and tea house.
You can taste Julie’s passion for sweets and Danish in everything she makes. She totally loves what she’s doing and she wants to share her love with you. You only need to take one bite to forget all your sorrows and get your batteries fully recharged in the romantic and fuzzy Julie cocoon.
There is just no escape from Julie’s love. The old nostalgic interior, which has wooden cupboards full of pink and blue china and lots of colorful ribbons, is pure romance. The fabulous looking counter packed with freshly made scones, cakes, muffins, sweets and chocolates will make you feel like a greedy character from “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. You will want to try it all! Before you do just that, be aware of the options or to sin sweet or to take a sweet sin. Either way, you will love it.

A visit to the authentic candy shop Temmerman will surely leave sweet memories. This shop is located in the historical centre of Ghent and originally only sold gingerbread. Today you can find all kinds of sweets and candy here.
The best-known treat is the cuberdon, which local people often call neuzeke (little nose) due to its cone-shaped appearance. The cuberdons, delicious purple sweets, are made of Arabic gum and raspberry juice (originally they used elderberry juice). There are dozens of sweets for you to try : ruitjes, poepkes, punaizen, Marias, gobstoppers, kruiskes, kloefkes, wippers, munteklontjes, Lutsepoepen, Zure Tuutjes, Fruithartjes, Wissel-agentjes, etc.
This shop is a true feast for all visitors with a sweet tooth! -
