Day 01: Cusco - Piskacucho - Yunkachimpa
Our private bus will pick you up from your hostel/hotel in Cusco to start the adventure through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. During the trip we will pass through the towns of Chincheros, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo before arriving to Piskacucho, Km 82 of the Cusco - Machu Picchu railway, starting point of our trek. We will walk until Miskay where we will have lunch and a 1 hour and 30 minutes break before restarting our walk toward our first camp in Yuncachimpa, which will include a guided visit of the archaeological site of Llactapacta. -
Day 02: Yuncachimpa - Warmiwañusca - Runkurakay
Today we will start our walk to the highest point of the Inca Trail. The walk today takes you through different micro-climates of his valley. We will pass the site of Warmiwañusca, at 4.200 mt on sea level, and then have lunch and camp in Paqaymayo. Free time and dinner. -
Day 03: Runkurakay, Chaquicocha - Wiñaywayna
After breakfast we will start a 45 minutes walk to reach the second passage, at 3.850 mt above sea level, where will will visit the archaeological site of Runkurakay and Sayacmarka. Following lunch in Phuypatamarka, we will reach Wiñaywayna and explore all its archaeological sites before we camp and have dinner.
Day 04: Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Early in the morning we will start the last walk to Machu Picchu. We will arrive to Intipunku (the Sun Gate), from where we will be able to enjoy the view of Macchu Picchu in all its splendour, and then we have a short walk to reach the city itself. After registering our documents at the checking control, we will visit the site and have time to enjoy and discover this mythical city. Just before lunch we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we catch a train to Ollantaytambo and then a bus to Cusco. - total distance: 46 miles (74 km)
