Days 3-4 Hire a bike or dust off your walking shoes and check out the incredible canyons and natural rock formations, known as fairy chimneys that dominate Cappadocia's unique landscape. Choose to explore the underground city of Derinkuyu and take the option to have a meal with a local family.

Day 5 Hike through this beautiful gorge filled with caves, containing ancient Byzantine churches with stunning painted frescos.

Day 6 Adana is our overnight stop as we continue our odyssey southeast towards the Syrian border. Check out the extravagant Sabanci Merkez Cami, built by Turkey’s most famous tycoon.

Days 7-8 Aleppo is the epitome of an Arabian bazaar. Steeped in centuries of history, donkeys and horse-drawn carts are still the fastest way around the labyrinthine alleyways of the charming Al-Jdeida quarter. Explore the souks bartering for gold and silver treasures, intricate wooden boxes, mounds of fabric and sweet-scented soaps.

Day 9 Listen to the creak of giant water wheels in atmospheric Hama before heading to explore the crusader castle of Crac des Chevaliers or Qala-at al-Hosn, regarded by poets and writers as the epitome of the fairytale castle or simply the most beautiful castle in the world.

Day10 Learn about the intriguing history of this Greco-Roman city in its captivating desert oasis backdrop. The tales of a queen, a murder and a tragic ending will bring these beautiful and evocative ruins to life.

Days 11-12 Damascus, Syria's Holy City and traditional seat of the country's rulers, claims to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. It certainly feels like it as you wander the ancient walled Medina with its unique old-world oriental charm locked into a maze of alleyways, filled with bazaars, minarets, mosques and fountain courtyards.

Day 13 We hop the border into Jordan and continue to Amman, the capital and largest city of the Hashemite Kingdom.

Days 14-15 Making a stopover at the Dead Sea, we proceed to the ancient Nabataean city of Petra in southern Jordan. Marvel at Petra's incredible towering façades carved into the rose-coloured rock face.

Day 16 Blessed with some of the most spectacular desert scenery you will ever see, Wadi Rum is home to the nomadic Bedouin people. We head deep into the desert by 4x4, arriving at our tented home for the night where we enjoy a traditional meal and learn more about this ancient culture.

Day 17-18 Welcome to the land of the Pharaohs as we transfer by ferry into Egypt, where it is time for a well-earned beach break. Relax, take a dip in the crystal waters and enjoy some unique snorkelling over the coral reefs for which the Red Sea region is famous.

Day19 Make the steep climb to the top of Mt. Sinai and be rewarded with stunning views, before visiting St Katherine’s monastery, legendary home of the biblical burning bush.

Day 20 Enter Egypt's bustling capital, as we take the chance to celebrate our odyssey with a final farewell night in the capital of the ancient world.
