The DOQ Priorat covers a small region of fewer than 20,000 hectares, of which only 1,600 hectares are planted with vines. The landscape is abrupt and challenging, or in the words of the Catalan writer, Josep Pla, ‘cataclismatic’. Working the vineyards is a complicated, demanding and costly undertaking, and the vines produce very little compared to those of other wine regions.

Bodegas Miguel Torres - Priorat Finca La Soltetas/n - 43737 El Lloar (Tarragona)
Bodegas Torres presents its new winery located in the very heart of the prestigious winemaking Catalan county of Priorat, more specifically in the municipality of El Lloar, among the vineyards owned by Torres on a hill close to the town of the same name. This building is where Torres produces its DOQ Priorat wines, “Salmos”, its wine launched onto the market to coincide with the presentation of the new winery; it's extending its range of products by introducing the new wine “Perpetual”. It also has solar and photovoltaic panel systems in line with the company's policy to have wineries that respect the environment and using a high percentage of renewable energy consumption. - Wednesday, June 6, 2012

Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community Camí de Racó s/n, 43481 La Pineda

LUMINE Mediterránea Beach&Golf Community is a golfers’ paradise. Everything here is green: 170 hectares devoted to three golf courses with the 45 newest holes in Spain and two club-houses. Each of these courses gives the player a different experience. Not only because of the challenge they pose, but also for their design: the 18 holes of the Lakes Course are fully embedded in Nature, around the wetlands; the 9 holes in the Ruins Course run between archaeological ruins; and from the 18-hole Hills Course, you can view the quarries, pine groves and the sea.
But the most important feature of the LUMINE Golf Club courses is that they have won the Audubon International Gold Signature Sanctuary Certificate. This award recognises the environmentally sustainable model of the LUMINE Golf Club and its responsible management of water.

Fine sandy beaches and peaceful waters, including those of Viladecans, Gavà, Castelldefels, Sitges and Vilanova i la Geltrú, stretch from the delta of the Llobregat river to the south of Barcelona. The region also provides an interesting range of culture, wine and cuisine and two Designation of Origin wines: Penedès and Cava. Muntanya de Montserrat Natural Park, the parks of El Garraf, Olèrdola, and El Foix, and the vineyards of the Penedès region offer some interesting contrasts. The region’s significant Art Nouveau heritage includes the church-crypt of Gaudí’s Güell Colony, while castellers (human towers), patron saints’ day festivals, abounding with fire, carnivals and theatrical performances of a religious origin, preserve a wealth of popular tradition.

Among other factors, Cava was born out of the radical transformation of the Penedés region’s vineyards following the phylloxeric invasion. The alteration of the varieties there via the introduction of high-quality white grapes, substituting the black grapes of the moment, enabled the winemaking industry to be renewed.
