The tornado first touched down in the Munger Hill section of Westfield with damage mainly limited to trees...Many uprooted and snapped. The roof of Munger Hill elementary school was also damaged. (NWS)

The tornado rapidly intensified as it moved into West Springfield. Donna Hudson of Day Street, who was in her downstairs closet holding the door shut during the storm, later said, ''It felt like a freight train was coming through my backyard, a big one.'' (Boston.com)

The staircase of a home was in the middle of Stewart Avenue in Monson on June 2. Laura Yarbrough's son's dog, Riley, was rescued from the remains of their Stewart Avenue home and Miranda Phipps screamed, ''Monson has gone crazy!'', as she surveyed the damage to her family's home on Stewart Ave. (Boston.com)
