When Solomon arrived in Majdanek, he met a doctor from Paris who was able to do surgery on his ankle with a knife to make it heal better. Every day he had to walk 3 kilometers to get to his work and if he was seen limping, he would of been hanged because the soldiers hanged anyone for anything. At the end of work, if there would be any dead bodies he would have to take them back to the crematorium. Someone was smoking and wouldn't admit it so an officer threatened to hang 10 people for this single act of injustice. He didn't admit so Solomon was going to be hanged first but before he could, an officer came saying that Solomon was being deported to a new camp so he was saved. He was being sent to Auschwitz.

When Solomon arrived in Auschwitz, he was immediately sent to work on building railroad tracks. After working so much he totally collapsed on the ground from exhaustion. He was taken to the hospital not to heal but to be used as a guinea pig in experiments. Before he got tested on, he got the opportunity to get work so he took it but it was work in the coal mines where no one lasted over 2 weeks. He gave information away to an officer about other Jews in exchange for help. The officer got him out of the coal mines. He got a new job of working in the sand mines. During Sabbath a Hungarian helped him by feeding them extra food. After Sabbath, the guard was never seen again. Solomon was taken to Gross-Rosen due to nearing Americans.

The Nazi's told the prisoners that there was a town over the mountain where they were going to do more work. When they crossed the mountain, they only found a Nazi ambush of machine guns shooting at them. Some died but Solomon made it back to the train. Up ahead on the rails was where the Americans bombed the rails. The Nazi's took 3 people to go clean up the bomb shells. He was eating a piece of bread and since he wasn't working, a Nazi started beating on him until he started working. When he survived the beating, Solomon knew he would survive. After that, the Americans found the train and set everyone free. He was brought to Feldafing.
