Day 1 Arrive Venice at any time. Day 2 Venice is one of the few cities in the world that can truly be described as unique. Embellished with monuments of rare splendour over the centuries, today Venice is a city like no other in the world. Take a gondola ride by night, wander the labyrinth of bridges and alleyways, and lose yourself in the magic and mystery of the City of Canals.

Days 3-4 Five little villages built into the rocks between the crystalline waters of the Ligurian Sea and the steep hillside. Hike, swim, drink wine, and watch the incredible sunsets. Follow the centuries-old footpaths and mule tracks leading through olive groves, vineyards and orchards.

Days 5-6 After a stop for some unique pics of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, we head to the Tuscan capital, inspiration for the fathers of Italian Art, birthplace of the Italian language and the Renaissance. Sample some of the country's finest gelato as you marvel at the awe-inspiring duomo, shop for jewellery on the Ponte Vecchio as the Medici's once did, and don't miss the chance to see Michelangelo's David in his full glory!

Days 7-9 Jump on a train south to the bustling Italian capital, Rome. Rome exudes history and art, from the imposing Colosseum and Palatine Hill, to the marvelous museums of the Vatican.

Days 10-11 Head further south to the city of Naples with a chance to visit the ancient ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum and the stunning Amalfi Coast around Sorrento.

Day 12 Travel to Brindisi on Italy's east coast, boarding an overnight ferry to the picturesque Greek Island of Corfu, the greenest of the Ionian Islands.

Days 13-14 Relax at the beach or take to the green hills, to whitewashed villages and magnificent views over the Ionian Sea across to the Greek mainland.

Days 15-16 Named for Athena, goddess of wisdom, this city was an important influence on the development of Western civilization. Explore the cobbled streets of charming Plaka, sample some of the best souvlaki on offer and head up to the Acropolis to learn about the ancient history of the Greeks.

Days 17-18 Spend your days at leisure in the whitewashed streets of Fira, take a trip out to the volcano, relax on the famous Akrotiri Red Beach, or rent a scooter to explore the entire island. Spend your evenings with a famed Santorini sunset and a glass of specialty local wine.

Day 19 We have the day at leisure in Santorini before we head back across the Aegean on an overnight ferry to Athens.

Days 20-21 Discover Greece's third largest island (Mytilini in Greek), bathed in olive groves and fantastic beaches, this is the Emerald Island, renowned for its poets and painters, its olive oil and wine, as well as its vibrant student population and laid back attitudes. Watch the sunset as you overlook the shores of Turkey, sipping on a nip of ouzo or local wine.

Day 22 Cross the Aegean to Turkey, explore the seaside fishing port and beach resort of Ayvalik. Sit back in one of its many cafés to sample your first glass of Turkish coffee and nibble at some tasty baclava as you soak up the view across the beautiful bay.

Day 23-24 Both Europe and Asia, steeped in centuries of history, this city of turrets and domes is a highlight for any traveller. Up and coming bars, restaurants, festivals and galleries are rapidly putting Istanbul on the map in the contemporary art, music and fashion circles. Don't miss those historical icons, the Aya Sofya, the Basilica Cistern, the Hippodrome and the legendary Blue Mosque.
