The Cistercian Route is an expression that identifies a particular territory that is made up by the counties of Alt Camp, Conca de Barberà and Urgell and its 65 municipalities.
Its name comes from the artistic and cultural heritage of each of these counties that has a Cistercian monastery: Santes Creus, Poblet and Vallbona de les Monges. Since the joining together of these three monasteries, visitors can discover a land rich in culture, heritage, nature, wine and champagne, celebrations and traditions, crafts. -

The Caves of Espluga are natural cavities used by man since Paleolithic times. The museum inside will allow us to participate, through large projections on the surface of the same cave and through virtual theatrical scenes, so that the discovery of the cave and its human history are played out for us to intensify our feelings. Within the lands of Milmanda Castle, where the Emperors Charles V and Phillip II hunted, extend the vineyards of Milmanda.
These 75 hectares are situated at 500 metres above sea level in Conca de Barberà. The soils are ideal for the cultivation of some of the best grapes.
The famous Milmanda vineyard is located here, a single vineyard of Chardonnay that lends its name to a white wine appreciated by the finest palates everywhere.

The GR 175, the Cistercian Route is the only path that connects the three monasteries of this order to most emblematic New Catalonia: Santes Creus, Poblet and Vallbona, located in the counties of Alt Camp, the Conca de Barberá il'Urgell respectively.
The sum total of the route is 105 kilometres for those who walk and 108 kilometres for cyclists. The route is circular, has 4 variants for cyclists and sign posts in both directions plus a description of the route, the connection with other GR and PR networks and the multiple services offered by local people. All of which create the perfect setting to make this route so enjoyable and easily accessible, you can travel the entire route or journey on other circuits, combining several sections of the trail, which can also be adapted perfectly for the visitors preference.

This is the only female monastery and the only route that has been preserved by the community continuously for over 850 years, except, of course in times of war. The Monastery de Vallbona is such a beautiful monastery. Small in size and equipped with a unique beauty, it is the clearest exponent of the importance of women during medieval times.
