    It took 169 years of labour to raise the Cathedral and the result is a real masterpiece!

        you continue your trip towards the water and here you can discover 'Het Steen'. The Steen was built around the year 1200 as the fortification of the alluvial mound. The word 'Steen' is Dutch for stone and it was one of the first buildings constructed in stone.
